Effect of deformation depth on plantar soft tissue behavior

چکیده
Introduction Most in vivo indentation techniques are limited by the lack of adequate indentation on the plantar tissue. Without sufficient indentation into the soft tissue, only very little and less representative information can be obtained. The purpose of this study is hence to assess the effect of deformation depth on plantar tissue behavior and to establish a set rule of optimum indentation depth that is sufficient to quantify the critical plantar soft tissue behavior.

The effect of mechanical load on degenerated soft tissue.
OBJECTIVE To present a form of therapeutic mechanical load, Graston Technique (GT)-an instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization method) in three case studies including supraspinatus tendinosis, Achilles tendinosis, and plantar fasciosis. METHOD In each case study, case history and functional testing confirmed the presence of a condition characterized by degenerated soft tissue. Each condit...
متن کاملAsessment of ageing effect on plantar tissue stiffness
Background Foot abnormality has become a public health concern. Early detection of pathological soft tissue is hence an important preventive measure, especially to the elderly who generally have a higher risk of foot pathology (i.e. ulceration) [1]. Accumulated changes over time diminish the mechanical properties of plantar soft tissue, causing easy breakdown of tissue and instability of foot d...
متن کاملThe Effect of Polarized Laser Radiation on Viscoelastic Properties of Soft Tissue
Background: Laser-tissue interaction on low-level laser therapy (LLLT) has widespread medical applications (e.g., improved wound healing). The tensile strength of radiated tissue by LLLT is known to be increased mainly because of cross collagen bands developed after radiation. Objective: In this work, we studied the instantaneous effect of radiation of polarized laser beam on the viscoelastic ti...
متن کاملInvestigation of Shape Functions Role on the Mesh-free Method Application in Soft Tissue Elastography
In current study, The Mesh-free method based on weak-form formulation coupled with the ultrasound imaging technique is developed. This problem consists in computing the deformation of an elastic non-homogenous phantom by numerical methods (both Mesh-free and Finite Element) and converge their results to the measured deformation by the ultrasound. The shape functions of Mesh-free are approximate...
متن کاملThe shear mechanical properties of diabetic and non-diabetic plantar soft tissue.
Changes in the plantar soft tissue shear properties may contribute to ulceration in diabetic patients, however, little is known about these shear parameters. This study examines the elastic and viscoelastic shear behavior of both diabetic and non-diabetic plantar tissue. Previously compression tested plantar tissue specimens (n=54) at six relevant plantar locations (hallux, first, third, and fi...
